Spotify playlist

Put every song you gold star on a playlist in your own Spotify account, automatically.

Star a song in your queue and it goes on a Spotify playlist in your own account, so you have something to share the moment a stream ends.

Connect Spotify

  1. Open Settings, Developer, Spotify playlist and tap Connect Spotify.
  2. Approve the two permissions Spotify asks for. They let Nero add songs to your playlists and nothing else: no reading your library, your listening or your profile beyond your name.
  3. Star a song. The first star makes the playlist, named after you, and adds the song. Its link then appears on the settings page.

What gets added

  • Songs submitted as a Spotify track link. That is most submissions to a music queue.
  • An uploaded file, a YouTube or SoundCloud link, or a link to a whole album is skipped. Nero does not search Spotify for a close match, because a wrong song on a public playlist is worse than a missing one.
  • Starring the same song twice adds it once. Un-starring does not remove it; take it off in Spotify if you want it gone.
  • Only your own stars count, on songs submitted to a session you hosted. Starring your own submission adds nothing.

The playlist is yours

Nero makes it once, in your account, and only ever adds to it. Rename it, reorder it, delete songs from it, or make it private in your playlists and it keeps working. Delete the whole playlist and the next star makes a new one.

Disconnecting stops new songs being added and leaves the playlist where it is. So does removing Nero from your Spotify account settings, which Nero notices the next time it tries to add a song.

How it relates to the other gold star rewards

The playlist promotes the song. The gold star reward emails the artist a discount code, and the Klaviyo gold star list hands them to a flow you build. Each is its own switch and none of them knows about the others: use any, all, or none. The two rewards reach an artist once each; the playlist takes every song you star, so an artist with three starred songs gets three tracks.
