Give the artists you star a merch discount. Email one code, or send unique codes through Klaviyo.
Gold star notifications
When you star a new song, Nero emails the artist with your name, their song, and a link to their activity. No merch or Klaviyo setup is needed. Starring another song sends another notification; removing and adding the same star does not. Your own submissions do not receive this email.
The merch reward below and any Klaviyo flow are separate and can send additional messages.
How the merch reward works
- You star a song in your queue.
- Nero emails that artist your discount code, once, the first time you star them.
- They spend it in your store.
Want each artist to get their own code instead? Add starred artists to a list in Klaviyo and let a flow there send it. That is a separate switch, set up under Klaviyo, and it works with or without this emailed code.
Set up the merch reward
- Connect Shopify or Fourthwall.
- Make the code in your store: Shopify discounts or Fourthwall promotions, with no expiry date.
- Paste it into Settings, Developer, Gold star reward, add a note if you want one, and tap Turn on the reward.
What the merch email includes
A message with your name and their song in the subject, your note, and the code with a button to your store. That button is tagged, so your store analytics can count what Nero sends you. Artists do not need a Nero account: it goes to the address on their submission.
Who gets a merch reward
- Only artists you star yourself, on a submission to one of your sessions.
- We only email the merch code to each submitter once, even if you change the code later.
Change or pause the merch reward
For new codes, paste it on the same page and tap Save reward. Artists you starred before that have the old one, so leave it alive in your store until you are ready to end it. The switch on the card pauses merch reward emails without forgetting the code.
Good to know
- The code is the same for everyone, so set a discount you are happy to see passed around. For one-per-artist codes, use the Klaviyo list.
- No spaces in a code. Notes stop at 280 characters.
- Selling merch inside a submission is a different feature: Shopify merch and Fourthwall merch.
